The Parliamentary Special Hearing Committee today approved the names for appointment at the National Human Rights Commission after probing into the complaints filed against them.
The Committee approved former Chief Justice Kedar Nath Upadhyaya as the chief of the NHRC and former justice Ram Nagina Singh and Dr KB Rokaya as NHRC members. The Committee had received complaints against their nominations. The committee had received no complaints against the two other members – Gauri Pradhan and Lila Pathak.
The Constitutional Council had nominated them for appointment in the NHRC on August 30.
Meanwhile, the Parliamentary panel began hearing on the nomination of 21 persons as Nepal’s ambassador to different diplomatic missions.
